Please read these Terms of Service carefully before using Initiate Collective. These terms govern your use of our platform and form a legal agreement between you and Initiate Collective.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using Initiate Collective ("the Platform"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the Platform. These terms apply to all visitors, registered users, and anyone else who accesses the Platform.

2. Description of Service

Initiate Collective is a free platform that aggregates and curates Canadian student opportunities including scholarships, competitions, STEM programs, MUNs, and more. We also provide tools for saving opportunities, tracking applications, and submitting opportunities for review. The Platform is provided free of charge and is intended for Canadian high school students.

3. User Accounts

To access certain features, you must create an account. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your password and for all activity that occurs under your account. You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information when creating your account. You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. If you are under 18, you represent that you have obtained parental or guardian consent.

4. User-Submitted Content

Users may submit opportunities, reviews, and other content to the Platform. By submitting content, you grant Initiate Collective a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use, display, and distribute that content on the Platform. You represent that you have the right to submit such content and that it does not violate any laws or third-party rights. We reserve the right to remove any submitted content at our discretion.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use the Platform to submit false, misleading, or fraudulent information; to impersonate any person or organization; to scrape, harvest, or systematically collect data from the Platform without permission; to interfere with or disrupt the Platform or its servers; to violate any applicable laws or regulations; or to use the Platform for any commercial purpose without our express written consent.

6. Accuracy of Opportunity Listings

Initiate Collective makes reasonable efforts to ensure the accuracy of opportunity listings, but we do not guarantee that all information is current, complete, or accurate. Opportunity details including deadlines, eligibility requirements, and application links are sourced from third parties and may change without notice. Please refer to our Disclaimer for more information. Always verify information directly with the opportunity provider before applying.

7. Intellectual Property

The Platform, including its design, code, branding, and original content, is the property of Initiate Collective and is protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may not copy, reproduce, modify, or distribute any part of the Platform without our express written permission. Opportunity listings remain the property of their respective organizations.

8. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account at any time, with or without notice, for conduct that we determine violates these Terms of Service or is harmful to other users, the Platform, or third parties. You may also delete your account at any time by contacting us.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Initiate Collective shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of opportunities, academic consequences, or any other damages arising out of or related to your use of the Platform. Our total liability to you for any claims shall not exceed the amount you paid to use the Platform, which is zero, as the Platform is free.

10. Governing Law

These Terms of Service shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Canada and the province of Ontario, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising from these terms shall be resolved in the courts of Ontario, Canada.

11. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. We will notify registered users of material changes by email. Continued use of the Platform after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms. We encourage you to review these terms periodically.
