At Initiate Collective, we take your privacy seriously. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your data. By using our platform, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.
1. Information We Collect
When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, grade, and province. When you use the platform, we collect information about opportunities you save, your application tracker status, and any reviews or submissions you make. We do not collect payment information โ Initiate Collective is completely free.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use your information to provide personalized opportunity recommendations based on your grade and province, to send email reminders you have opted into, to display your saved opportunities and tracker on your dashboard, and to improve the platform. We do not sell your personal information to third parties, ever.
3. Email Communications
We may send you email reminders about upcoming deadlines if you have opted in through the "Remind Me" feature on a listing page. We may also send confirmation emails when you sign up or reset your password. You can opt out of reminder emails at any time by removing reminders from your dashboard.
4. Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored securely through Supabase, a trusted database provider. We use industry-standard encryption and security practices. Passwords are hashed and never stored in plain text. We retain your data for as long as your account is active. You may request deletion of your account and data at any time by contacting us.
5. Cookies
We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you logged in and to remember your preferences such as dark mode. We do not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking cookies. You can disable cookies in your browser settings, though this may affect your ability to stay logged in.
6. Third-Party Services
We use Supabase for database and authentication services, and Resend for transactional emails such as account confirmation and deadline reminders. These services have their own privacy policies. We do not share your personal information with any other third parties.
7. Children and Students
Initiate Collective is designed for Canadian high school students, including those under 18. We do not knowingly collect more information than is necessary to provide our services. If you are under 13, please ensure you have parental consent before creating an account. Parents or guardians may contact us to request deletion of a minor's account and data.
8. Your Rights
You have the right to access the personal information we hold about you, to correct inaccurate information, to request deletion of your account and data, and to withdraw consent for email communications. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at theinitiatecollective@gmail.com.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify registered users of significant changes by email. Continued use of the platform after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy. The date at the bottom of this page indicates when the policy was last updated.
